Counselling and psychotherapy enable you to look at how you have formed in response to your past and present experiences. They help you resolve difficult issues and become aware of patterns of behaviour. Psychotherapy is usually longer term and looks more deeply at how your past experiences and relationships are affecting you now.
During our sessions I will help you clarify your responses and think about the ways you are influenced by your experiences and personal history. We will talk about how you may change, adapt or grow aspects of yourself in order to feel more in control and fulfilled. We will work together to explore patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving in a way that feels safe and at a pace that's right for you.
Understanding your reactions and behaviours better you will discover new perceptions and begin to know yourself more fully. I believe this will help you to have a more comfortable relationship with yourself and others, enhancing the quality of the choices you make and giving you more energy for living. I aim to help you to hear yourself more clearly and know yourself more deeply.
You may wish to explore a range of issues influencing you or focus on a particular issue that is foreground in your life right now. We can work together flexibly either short or longer term depending on what you would like. We will discuss this in the initial session and review it on a regular basis.
